Our criteria in choosing a playset was simple. It needs to be made from high quality materials, has great safety feature, gives you great value for money and the most important of all, it has to be FUN.

 

After evaluating them all, there were only a few models that stood out for us. If you are looking for a high quality playsets that gives you value for your money, then my recommendation is the Blue Ridge Frontier Gorilla Playsets.

Gorilla Playsets Quality

The swing sets uses maintenance free timber that is resistant to rot, decay and insect damage. This is an extremely important aspect since it needs to be able to withstand the outdoors extremity.  The wood beams are Poly coated so that will not give your kids splinters and the swing hangers are bolted through the swing beam for that added extra strength and support.

It is also backed by a 10 year warranty so you know that it is built to last.

Safety

 The lumbers are double sanded and the edges are rounded to prevent snags and scratches.  The bolts have a round protective cap and the bottom half of the swing chain are covered in pinch free plastisol.  This was quite an important feature for us because as a kid, I remember getting my fingers stuck in those chains.

Value for Money

This swing set will give you plenty of value for your money. It has a lot more features compared to similar priced playsets and it has the same build and safety quality of the more expensive playsets.  I remembered after building our Blue Ridge Frontier that one our friend commented that he paid a lot more for his swing set and his build quality wasn’t even close to the quality of the Gorilla Blue Ridge Frontier Playsets.

Fun Factor

This playsets has certainly passed the fun factor with flying colors, well according to our kids anyway. They would not get off it and even had to drag them inside when it was too dark to see them anymore.

Build Time

As with most playsets, assembling the swing set is the most difficult part and it can be quite frustrating at time.  Don’t make the mistake I did and went at it alone. I strongly recommend you get an extra person or two to assemble it as you will need help to lift things in place.  You will also need to keep a weekend free as this is a big swing set.

Here is a great tip that I’ve learnt when I was helping my sister assemble her Gorilla Playsets for her kids.

Before you dive in and start the assembly process, lay out all your parts into groups based on the assembly step. Parts for step one in pile 1, parts for step 2 in pile 2 etc.  This way, you will have all the parts identified and assembly will be a lot faster as you don’t have to search for the parts.

Now I can’t stress enough how important this is. It may take you a couple of hours to group the parts but it will save you SO MUCH time in the end and you can easily grab the pieces needed for each step.

Overall, this is a great playset for its price range. The most difficulty you’ll have is the assembly but the look on your kids face once its built will be so worth it.

There are other playsets on the market that are similar to this one but we chose this for our kids as it gives you good value for your money and it is made from a company that we trusted.
